Structured Yet Casual

I am basically in love with this top from Zara.  I originally saw it here on Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere. It is one of those pieces that seems underwhelming hanging on the hanger but when worn it is just perfect. It is structured but not constricting. The material has enough weight so it looks more expensive than it actually is. I love this top because it can so easily be dressed up or down. I wore this casual take romping around El Paso Robles the week before thanksgiving. It was cool an a bit rainy so threw on a pair of boots and was ready to go. It can easily be paired with a pencil skirt, heals and a statement necklace (like the ones seen here) for a more formal look.

That Happy Day

Wow! How time flies! Three years ago today I married my best friend. Growing up I would always laugh when people said, "when you know, you know." I though it was so cheesy. When I met Drew I knew that ever so cheesy saying was spot on. I am excited to spend the rest of my life going on adventures with him. He is my very best friend and I am thankful that God brought him into my life.

Since I wasn't writing this blog three years ago I thought I would share some of our wedding photos.
Enjoy!

She Said Yes

Hi all! Above is my amazing friend and partner in crime Lauren and Bryce, my super awesome bearded brother-in-law. You have seen lauren before {here}. She is the woman behind the camera who takes many of my outfit pictures. She is also my new future sister. Lauren and Bryce were recently  engaged. He put a ring on it!! It was perfect, and as you can tell.. she said yes. The family joined Bryce and Lauren on their beautiful hike where Bryce popped the question on one knee over looking the cliffs of the pacific ocean.  They are truly perfect for each other. Congratulations you two.

Gray Day

A few days ago a friend of mine and Drew's said "It's one of those days that feels like 5 all day". You know, those type of days where the clouds are hovering so if feels like the sun is about to set all day long. For some strange reason those are some of my favorite days. I call them gray days. If there was one inspiration for this outfit (other than my love of snake skin lately) it is the gray day.

All in all it was a beautiful gray day driving up and down the Malibu coat. It's funny just about 10 minutes outside of LA and you can feel like you are on the Central Coast.

Fun fact: I have been looking for a great bow-tie shirt for a while now (yet to be found). I really thought the perfect bow-tie would complete the 60's 70's vibe I was going for. To create the appearance of the bow-tie shirt take a button up shirt that has a wraparound fabric belt. Wrap the tie under the collar of the shirt and tie at the top buttoned button. Just a little closet trick.

Adventures of SNL

Hi Friends! TGIF, what sweet letters to type. This week was unusually crazy. Well, you know what they say, when it rains it pours.

My good friend Lauren and I took these photos a couple of weeks ago (and I am just putting them up now... what a slacker).  Lauren is an incredibly gifted photographer who, I am sure, will do big things. Her work will be featured on White Like Sage under the heading The Adventures of SNL (Sarah and Lauren). You may see more of her work {Here}. For this look I decided to a layer a crop top over a spaghetti strap dress.  Layering is always a trend I enjoy, but during the fall it is a useful tool in making those summer pieces last just a little while longer.  I also decided to debut my new spike bracelet. I cant decide if it's a fashion accessory or weapon. Maybe a little of both?

Rules are made for Breaking

I know you've heard the old rule; no white after Labor-Day. Although this old rule has been around for quite some time, no one really knows its origin. The most common explanation is a practical one. Before the 1920s, when this rule was created, white clothing was used as a way to cool down in the summer months. When the winter months rolled around women would wear darker clothing to avoid mud stains. This Myth is also linked to a symbol of status. The elite in society had the means to coordinate their clothing for the seasons. The most elaborate contrast took place in summer and winter with the colors white and black. The no white after Labor Day rule was mostly thought as formal etiquette in the 60s and 70s.

Thankfully this old rule is completely outdated.  I personally love white after Labor Day, specifically in winter. The clean crisp look of white reminds me of the first snow. Not only does Labor Day celebrate workers all over the world, but it also commemorates the beginning of fall. Just because summer is over doesn't mean your love of white has to be!

The New Neon

Today I got a new lens on my camera. The motor on my old lens died. So we had to put it to rest. RIP lens. You were good to me. Here are some pictures with the new lens.

Do you ever dress for your mood. I sure do. It was a happy happy day. I love how solid neons go together. Yellow, Pink, Orange and Blue all brightened up my day. Also, May I introduce you to my dog. This is Teddy. He is part of the family. As you can see he is very vocal.
