Tasty Tuesdays

This is a super easy recipe with minimal ingredients. Sometimes I don't think about cooking until I am already hungry. I hate when this happens because I usually grab for junk food. This Spring time salad is a healthy alternative you can make in a snap.

Ingredients

Boneless Chicken Brest
Lettuce of your choice
Oranges
Garlic
Parsley
Paprika or Cajan Seasoning
Salt
Pepper

Dressing

Horseradish Mustard
Kraft Italian Caesar dressing
Olive oil
Balsamic Vinegar

Music Monday

Grace Potter & The Nocturnals

If you watch music videos very much you may know about  Grace Potter & The Nocturnals. When Drew and I are up late, which tends to happen a lot, we turn on Palladia and watch music videos. The music video for Tinny Light was on. We were captivated by the driving guitar and stunning vocals. Grace Potter has a true rock and roll voice mixed with soulful control. From driving songs such as Paris and Tinny Light, to the more relaxed reggae feel of Goodbye Kiss, you will truly enjoy this album. You can buy their album here.

Other than their fab music, I love their style.

The New Neon

Today I got a new lens on my camera. The motor on my old lens died. So we had to put it to rest. RIP lens. You were good to me. Here are some pictures with the new lens.

Do you ever dress for your mood. I sure do. It was a happy happy day. I love how solid neons go together. Yellow, Pink, Orange and Blue all brightened up my day. Also, May I introduce you to my dog. This is Teddy. He is part of the family. As you can see he is very vocal.

Desert People

By Sarah Newman

Drew, our friend kyle, and I traveled to the desert today; Palm Desert to be exact. It always amazes me how pretty the desert can. The desert reminds me so much of home (I grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico). On the way down the mountain we pulled in to a lookout area and got to explore a bit. The best part was climbing the rocks in my 3 inch clogs, and surviving to tell about it. I was excited to match the scenery. I didn't plan it, but it worked great. The nude tones brought out the tans and browns in the rocks and sand. The blue polka-dots reflected the cartoon like clouds. All and all, it was a beautiful day.

Spring Me

Its that time of year again when the flowers bloom and  bears come out from hibernation. Yes, Spring is coming! I so need the sun on my face. I always love spring because it brings a feeling of newness. It is refreshing shake off the cold and and try something new. Some some my must haves this spring are: flowers around the house. While it may be too chilly to hang out all day outside, bring "outside" in. Big round sunglasses. I love these ones from House of Harlow. Floral shoes.  Every time spring roles around I always find my self dressing more girly. Can't get more girly than floral shoes. Statement watches.  Statement watches are great because one can dress down but throw on a great watch a spruce it up with some glitz. Watches are great for me so I don't have to dig through my purse to find my cell. Sheerness. Lately I have been seeing a whole lot of sheer clothing, tops skirts dresses. I love it all. Bright Jewelry. Wear neutrals with a pop of bright jewelry this spring. NARS Peach Polish. I love peach polish because is is more toned down than pink but still girlie and fresh.

Where to get it...

1. Fresh flowers around the house.
2. House of Harlow - Shopbob.com
5. J.Mendel- Spring 2011
6. Forever 21- Beaded Gladiator Bracelet
7. NARS Nail Polish

Happy Spring!

Tom Waits

Last night singer, songwriter, poet, actor and all around performer was inducted in to the Rock and Roll hall of fame. I didn't start listening to Tom Waits until 2 years ago when my husband introduced me to him. Little did I know, he has influenced so much of the music we hear today.  Tom Waits has forever changed the way I look at a "hit" song.

"My kids are starting to notice I'm a little different from the other dads. "Why don't you have a straight job like everyone else?" they asked me the other day. I told them this story: In the forest, there was a crooked tree and a straight tree. Every day, the straight tree would say to the crooked tree, "Look at me...I'm tall, and I'm straight, and I'm handsome. Look at you...you're all crooked and bent over. No one wants to look at you." And they grew up in that forest together. And then one day the loggers came, and they saw the crooked tree and the straight tree, and they said, "Just cut the straight trees and leave the rest." So the loggers turned all the straight trees into lumber and toothpicks and paper. And the crooked tree is still there, growing stronger and stranger every day."
