Stuffed Baked Apples

I remember a halloween party my family threw when I was in junior high. I may or may not have dressed up as Pippy Long Stocking.... The party was full of all the good ol' halloween activities like bobbing for apples. I never understood the whole stuffing your head into water to grab an apple. So, instead of stuffing my head in water I opted for stuffing the apple instead. I used {This} easy recipe but added oats in the filling. Bake on 350 for 25 minutes. {Here} is another seasonal recipe I love love to make around this time of year.

Happy Halloween!!

Opposites Attract

Lately I have been inspired by art pieces. They are mostly simple textiles but I love the idea of taking something 2 demential and turning it in to a 3D style piece. The transformation of art to fashion and visa-versa shows inspiration can be found from anywhere.  I  usually love color when I pick out an outfit but there is something so simple and refined about Black and White. Black and white an sometimes be seen as boring or safe so dress it up with unique textures and and patterns.

Maxi Dress Turned Maxi Skirt

One of my favorite trends this fall is the maxi skirt. Owning a maxi-skirt in every color would be a-ok with me; on the other hand, it may get a little excessive. For the sake of saving room in my closet and money in my wallet I opt for getting creative. For this look I layered a graphic tee over a mustard maxi-DRESS and belted the waist to create definition. Turing a maxi dress in to a maxi skirt is a simple closet trick anyone can conquer. So before you go run out and buy a maxi skirt in every color, rethink was is already in your closet, you may surprise yourself.

Fun for Fall

I love fall because all the activities that coincide with the season; corn mazes {pictured below}, harvest festivals, The Balloon Fiesta {an event that takes place in my home town. See it Here}, apple picking, just to name a few. Above all else, I love going to the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin.  A couple of days ago Drew surprised me by taking me to the cutest pumpkin patch ever. Peltzer Farms not only has a super cute pumpkin patch but they also has a corn maze. Mmm I love surprises.

One of my must have staples for this fall is sweaters. This tan and black sweater from H&M is great because it has enough weight to give the illusion of a sweater, but it is light and airy. I found this leather skirt at a local consignment store. I have been on the hunt for a leather skirt for a while now. The feminine flower detailing on the trim balances the the tough leather look. What is your favorite piece for this Fall?

Where I want to be

Today I had my calculus mid-term. Needless to say, my brain feels like it is about to explode. I would much rather be here, swinging away.

Homemade Pop-Tarts

As kids it was a rare occasion when we were allowed to have Pop-Tarts. Pop-tarts... the kid contraband. At the grocery store we would try to see who could sneak a box in the cart with out getting caught? Usually mom would catch us; but every once and a while, she would let it slide and pretend she didn't see us sneaking them in. I made this homemake pop-tart with my Mom in mind. Thank you for caring enough about us to not let us eat these ALL the time. More importantly, thank you for letting some slide. The thing I love about {This} recipe is once you have the pastry down you can fill your pop-tart with basically anything. I used cinnamon sugar, Nutella, and Strawberry Jam. They paired perfectly with a fresh cup of coffee.

Weekend Wrap-up

Every once and a while a normal day turns in to a unique experience. This weekend was full of unexpected, but fun and unique experiences. Although Drew and I have been living in our little town for almost two years now, we never really explored old town. Drew took me to brunch at The Gambling Cowboy Chophouse and Saloon overlooking old town. The food was amazing and balcony overlooking the streets was perfect for people watching. Old Town is a charming front street with little cafes and musty antique shops. Our afternoon was topped off when we got to hold parrots from the parrot rescue organization. Parrots are funny little creatures with a lot more attitude that I expected. I'm still not sure if I was holding the parrot or the parrot was holding me.... Polly want a cracker...

Living Colorful

There is something so inviting about a simple, bright and colorful living room. It's the living room that you want to curl up and read a book or magazine. I love a room that is colorful while maintaining a bright and airy feel. Sometimes people think they have to paint the walls to add color. While painting can add drama it can, at times, overwhelm a room. Adding too much color on the walls can make a space feel stuffy or small. The best way to achieve Color while keeping your space light and airy is with small pops of color through out. Here are some of the colorful rooms I would love to curl up and read a book in. Aren't they beautiful.

Check out the hanging chair... that would definitely be "my" spot.
